Zobha founder, Jamie Hanna shares some highlights from one of her recent summer getaways – a girls weekend at the spa:

Jamie’s most recent girls weekend was at a gorgeous spa in Arizona where she and her girlfriends were able relax, catch up, and take a break from the stress of daily life.

When Jamie isn’t unwinding with her girlfriends, she enjoys taking family trips to Maine where she grew up, and local excursions in the Bay Area. Tell us about your favorite summer getaways in the comments below!

It’s Race Season! Zobha at Napa Valley Marathon. Finish Line Style.

Wednesday, March 27th, 2013

Latest update from Alena – Our Zobha Guru:

On March 3rd I completed my first marathon and could not be more excited about this accomplishment.

This year’s Napa Valley Marathon was one to remember. Unlike previous years, the weather was picture perfect and the landscape was breathtaking with lush rolling hills covered with vineyards, mustard fields for miles and farm life around every corner.

The Napa Valley Marathon had a sold-out a field of 2,600 runners and women comprised 51 percent of the 2013 Napa Valley Marathon race field, which was a race record.

The 26.2 mile course began at 6:59AM in Calistoga and finished in the heart of Napa. I ran very conservatively early in the race, picked up my pace at Mile 19 and crossed the finish line with a finishing time of 4 hours and 14 minutes.

In preparation for the marathon, I carefully selected my Zobha outfit because I knew being comfortable and equipped would make all the difference.

The Endurance Tank was the perfect race tank because it has two hidden zippers, which worked great for carrying my CLIF SHOT Gels. The fit, fabric and design of this tank allowed me to run gracefully without adjusting or getting distracted by the items in my pockets.

The Hot Short also proved to be the best bottoms I could have selected. The performance fabric kept me cool while I sweat and the style lines kept my curves securely in place as I ran the course.

These two Zobha styles were hands down the best styles I could have chosen to run in that day and I felt great crossing the finish line in style!

I look forward to running the San Diego Rock ‘N’ Roll Marathon on June 2nd and I am confident I will get my time down to 3 hours and 32 minutes and qualify for the Boston Marathon in 2014.

Stay tuned. I look forward to sharing more details about my next marathon in June!

FRESH AIR AND TRENDS. BEHIND THE SCENES WITH EMERALD GREEN.

Friday, March 8th, 2013

Our Spring Collection is unique, beautiful and vibrant.  See the below interview with the Zobha Designers to learn more about our gorgeous Emerald Green and where the inspiration came from in developing this rich color.

What is unique about Zobha’s Emerald?

A: Zobha’s Emerald has a beautiful jewel tone.  It’s sophisticated, but also has a vibrancy and energy to it that is perfect for yoga and athletic wear.

What inspired you to develop Emerald?

A: We were very inspired by a sense of introspection and self-reflection for the season, resulting in the desire for calm, beautiful colors to ground our palette.  We really felt the depth and richness of Emerald personified this.

How would you describe your spring color inspiration board?

A: Our color inspiration board for this season was a medley of gorgeous colors.  We had beautiful bright pops, flirty pastels and richer colors, like Emerald.

Do you think Emerald is on-trend for spring?

A: Emerald is definitely on-trend for Spring.  We are seeing it everywhere on the runway, in new store collections and blogs.

What other colors can Emerald be combined with?

A: Emerald is the perfect color to pair with a softer color of the same hue, like Capri, for a beautiful, calm tonal feel.  It’s also sits so well with our fresh Violet Ice and bright Citron colors – you can see this vibrant color combo in our Belize print.

Introducing Jewelry | Jeffrey Levin for Zobha

Monday, December 3rd, 2012

Update (Published 12/3): Jeffrey Levin will be bringing his exquisite jewelry collection to the Zobha store in Mill Valley this weekend! If you’re in the area but sure to stop by and meet the artist himself. He’ll be showcasing a broader selection of his designs and will be taking orders for custom, one-of-a-kind pieces.

Jeffrey Levin Trunk Show @ Zobha, 30 Miller Ave, Mill Valley, CA

Friday, December 7: 12 – 6PM

Saturday, December 8: 10 – 2PM

Original Post (Published 9/17)

It takes courage for an artist to enter the creative space of another artist.  And even more so to attempt a collaboration.  But when the endeavor is inspired and the motive sincere, the result is art and the artists’ gift to one another is respect and admiration.  I know this to be true, because it happened when I met Jeffrey Levin: jeweler, kindred spirit and creator of the new Jeffrey Levin jewelry collection for Zobha.

This past Spring, Jeffrey Levin (pronounced Le-veen) invited me to his home in Santa Monica to begin work on a small gift to myself: a bespoke set of stack rings.  After admiring his lovely home, we compared sketches and exchanged ideas.  The real work began, however, when Jeffrey brought out an exquisite antique chest of drawers.  When opened, it revealed rows of small compartments that held his jewelry making tools, as well as the precious metals and stones that he uses in his designs. It was a joy to touch and work with materials so very different from the ones that I use at Zobha.  As we worked, Jeffrey shared his personal story and how it has influenced his artistic journey.

He was born in Cape Town, South Africa to parents of Lithuanian and Egyptian-French ancestry.  His father and uncle were both jewelers and he spent much of his childhood in and around his uncle’s workroom.  Even now the “distinct sounds and smells of hammering,” are his favorite part of jewelry making.  Outside of the workshop and his family home, Jeffrey observed and was inspired by the Ndebele people of South Africa-particularly their vibrant, celebratory “coming-of-age art.”

Jeffrey takes pride in his classical training.  He apprenticed formally for four years in his nativeSouth Africa.  The systematic, disciplined program focused upon technical mastery and skill building, but Jeffrey also had to tackle courses in gemology, design and theory.  After completing his apprenticeship he worked for some of the finest jewelers in South Africa before the political strife of the times led him to New York City.  Success followed, and so too a longing for our warm California sun.  His pieces are  fresh, modern, elegant but with an edge.  Jeffrey’s designs mix metals, precious stones and organic materials in a way that complement our Zobha aesthetic beautifully.

Almost all of us wear at least a single piece of jewelry.  Whether a ring or a string bracelet, these small treasures might  represent a life created, a friendship forged or a cherished memory-one that we can relive each time we glance down at a finger or wrist.  I gave my daughter Julia one of the necklaces in the new collection.

It’s made up of our initials, which are cast in silver and nestle against a tiny rose gold heart.  When I see it, I am reminded of the jeweler and how carefully he set those letters into the metal and how close the wearer is to my own heart.  Zobha’s new jewelry collection is available now at www.zobha.com.  I know you will love it.

With Grace,

Jamie

5 Fitness Essentials

Tuesday, September 11th, 2012

Hello Zobha Community-

As a team we are always asked by friends, family and even the people we interact with on a daily basis what are some of our work out must haves. We did an office round-up and found that many of us had some of the same requirements for our work out regimen, whether it was for Yoga, Kickboxing, going for a run or just using our favorite machines at the gym – it was pretty much the same and thought it would  be great to share it with you! Here are our top 5 fitness essentials:

1.     Water bottle: Before beginning any physical activity, always make sure you have a water bottle on hand. It’s very important to stay hydrated!

2.      Music: Having an exercise playlist sets the tone for your workout and makes it that much more fun! Try something with a great beat as you warm up, and something more relaxed as you cool down. With cool new sites like Spotify, you can sample your favorite celebs playlists or playlists that are similar to yours or try a completely new genre.

3.     Small weights: Bigger doesn’t always mean better! Small weights are easy and effective to incorporate into your daily routine. Try some reps to tone your arms while you relax in front of the TV or strap add some to your ankles to add some intensity to your walk or run.

4.      Shoes: To some, this may mean a new pair of Jimmy Choos. But that’s not the case for us. It’s important to invest in a well-fitting sneaker before starting any work out.

5.      Gear: Working out is about feeling good and it starts with having the right gear! Whether it’s a top that will prevent spillage or clothing that keep you dry – it’s an important part of our work out.

With these 5 fitness essentials you’ll be ready for any work out, anytime! What do you view as your most important fitness essential?
